1557

The stone ruins of Doubravka Castle from the fifteenth century form an unmistakable landmark on a steep, wooded basalt hill above Teplice. In the nineteenth century the noble Clary-Aldringen family adapted the site for tourism, built a lookout tower and added the then-fashionable neo-Gothic elements to the castle remains. The rampart walkway offers one of the best views of the whole town of Teplice, the ridges of the Ore Mountains and the České středohoří hills. For cyclists, the summit of Doubravka is a real sporting challenge, as the road climbing up from the town, although paved, is very steep with a demanding elevation gain. The castle courtyard and viewing terraces are freely accessible all year round, and refreshments are available in season.
