Set at the foot of the Ore Mountains, the town offers cyclists an interesting mix of industrial history and modern recreation areas. The cycle route itself passes through the outskirts, but from there easy detours lead into the historic centre with its urban heritage zone and dominant town tower. Chomutov is an ideal service and rest stop where cyclists will find everything they need: bike repair shops, accommodation and places to eat. The biggest tourist attractions close to the route include the Podkrušnohorský zoopark, the world-unique Kamencové Lake and the Railway Depository of the National Technical Museum. The former railway depot houses the country's largest collection of historic rail vehicles, steam locomotives and saloon cars. Also worth a visit is the extensive Bezručovo údolí forest park lining the northern edge of the town.
