This globally unique natural formation was created by flooding a former alum mine on the outskirts of Chomutov. The high alum content in the water prevents the growth of algae and cyanobacteria, ensuring exceptionally clean water throughout the swimming season. The extensive recreational area offers visitors well-maintained grassy and sandy beaches, a modern floating pier, sports courts for beach volleyball and mini-golf, and a water-skiing course.
