This royal town on the Eger river is where the entire Pánevní cyklotrasa officially begins. Kadaň boasts an exceptionally good network of cycle paths and a well-preserved historic centre that is a protected urban heritage reserve. The main landmark of the square is the unique white Gothic town hall tower from the early sixteenth century, complemented by a medieval castle and Hangman's Lane (Katova ulička), which holds the title of the narrowest street in the Czech Republic. Among the most important sights is the Gothic Franciscan Monastery of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, listed as a national cultural monument. Cyclists love to take a break on the Maxipes Fík Embankment, which runs right below the town walls and offers original sculptures as well as sports facilities.
